The title of this article is my favorite Aristotle quote. It really sums up the path to excellence. To be successful you need to build positive habits.

I want to build my upper body strength and as the video shows, lose some weight. To do that I need to build habits that include appropriate exercises. I had the opportunity to build a daily push up routine thrown at me when my son challenged me to a push-up challenge.

This pushup challenge raises awareness on the suicide rate of American Veterans. I was shocked when I saw the figures. If we raise awareness, we may be able to have an impact on people’s lives and reduce this number.

I challenge you, Dauntless Fight Club to participate in this challenge. The sample post below shows how to participate and the attached video shows one of my daily responses to the Push-up Challenge.

For members outside the United States, look for challenges like this to support your veterans or first responders. These people put their lives on the line for us, we should support them when they are in need. If you can’t find a challenge like this one, start one. You may change peoples’ lives.

It is not easy to build a habit. I had a lot of work to do today. It would have been a lot easier to skip the challenge today, but I committed to see it through. Once I have done push-ups every day for 22 days, I am confident that I will be able to continue the habit. There are a lot of obstacles to building a habit. We are all busy, tired, distracted or have neighbors using a chain saw when you are trying to film a video (I didn’t hear it when I was taping). Push yourself to continue through the hard times and build the habit.

I, Chad C. Betz, am pushing in an attempt to raise awareness on the fact that 22 AMERICAN VETERANS will commit suicide today. Today I’m challenging Dauntless Fight Club if you accept, copy & paste this to each video. Everyone has a purpose. Continue to find the emotional and physical strength you never thought existed. Please help spread the word that Veteran suicide is NOT the answer.
A new video will be posted each day for the next 22 days each with someone new being challenged.
how it works: take a video of yourself executing 22 push-ups to your ability level.
Post video to Facebook and other social media using the hashtags
Tally your push-ups (i.e. A group of 4 people in a video doing push-ups would be ‪#‎88pushups for ‪#‎22kill)
Call out your family, friends, battle buddies, the POTUS, the sky’s the limit.
The goal is to raise awareness for our service members who are battling this demon.
